Presentation for SVA ‘delkurs 4’

Muntlig presentation is one of the four assignments required to be completed to pass the svenska som andraspråk grundläggande delkurs 4. This means students are to prepare a presentation on any topic (the topic must be checked with and approved by the teacher) and then presented in class on an agreed date.

I did mine about 2.5 weeks ago. The topic of my choice is LinkedIn and the reason I chose it is because getting a job seems to be an important thing to my fellow classmates. So I pondered a lot on this and wonder how I can achieve the best of both worlds: nailing my presentation while also making it useful to my audience.

Based on my ‘pre-survey’ (casual chat) in the class, not many seemed to be aware of this professional social network unlike TikTok or Snapchat or Facebook or Instagram, so I saw the opportunity there to do something of value.

But what can I cover, though, in 10 to 15 minutes? In the context of my target audience, I decided on providing a brief but sufficient background about LI, statistically comparing LI globally with Sweden, choosing an angle in marketing and differentiating oneself from the many (sticka ut! —thank you for the Swedish term, Charlotte Hågård!), and of course the standard stuff such as the advantages, the do’s and do-not’s, and finally, the call-to-action. In total, I have 14 slides, including the front cover, back cover, and list of sources.

Below is a gallery of some of the slides I presented. I tracked the time I completed the presentation, which was 13 minutes.

I had lots of fun preparing it. I began thinking about it in January and started my research in the first week of February. I used Excel to track and record all my findings, so I know exactly when I started something.
