Studentlitteratur (The verdict? Wonderful!)
A new batch of books arrived last week on Friday. This time, I tried something different. Instead of buying from my default online bookseller, namely Bokus.com (when I buy Swedish books), I decided to get this batch of books directly from the publisher instead. The said publisher is Studentlitteratur.
Studentlitteratur is a Swedish publishing house that specializes in […]
Roget’s Thesaurus
Isn’t this a thing of beauty?
Austin Kleon has written a post about the Roget’s Thesaurus that spurred me on to take immediate action to procure a copy for my personal library. I began my usual sourcing procedures, found it at Bokus.com (I was quite surprised to get it at a good deal in Sweden for SEK 386, roughly SGD49 or USD37), and now I have this 1.5 kg tome in my hands. It took less than a week to be delivered, which is not bad for Swedish standards considering the Roget’s Thesaurus is a non-Swedish book.
In Austin Kleon’s post, […]
Bookrea 2023: nya böcker!
Two weeks ago I wrote about Sweden’s book sale and all my purchases have arrived! The first package from Bokus arrived on Tuesday, 21 February. Then Amazon on Wednesday, 22 February. And finally, Adlibris and Bokus—again, both on Friday, 24 February. […]
Bookrea 2023
The event of the year that I have been waiting for has arrived! BOKREA! BOOK SALE! What's super exciting is that all three of my favorite Swedish online bookstores are hosting their respective sales: Bokus, Akademibokhandeln, and Adlibris—in that order of notification from them. [...]
How to Begin
Yesterday Amazon.se delivered my fresh batch of books. Perfect timing. Today I launched right in, and started with HOW TO BEGIN by MBS—nej, it’s not Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, but Michael Bungay Stanier. With an Eriksberg in hand to begin ‘the ritual’ I began reading.
It’s a very good book to end the current year and usher in the new. Peter Jöback’s Stockholm i natt is playing in the background. I took a sip of my Eriksberg. […]
SAMLADE SAGOR by Maria Nilsson Thore
…(illustrated by the author) is a great book. This 288-page gem is filled with beautiful, fun, and whimsical illustrations; utterly enjoyable! I loved it. It’s so good.
I was browsing at Akademibokhandeln (Akademi for short) sometime late last year and almost bought it. It has been on my wishlist ever since. I finally borrowed it from the local library (about a month ago) and finished reading it in one sitting today.
Flashback: At Akademi, I had read one of the stories—En egen flock—and […]
BILBO (The Hobbit, Swedish ed.)
I thank my lucky stars to have found this at Röda Korset second hand Huskvarna. I had a hunch and a strong desire to visit Röda Korset today and I’m glad I listened! […]
