Bookrea 2023

The event of the year that I have been waiting for has arrived! BOKREA! BOOK SALE! What’s super exciting is that all three of my favorite Swedish online bookstores are hosting their respective sales: Bokus, Akademibokhandeln, and Adlibris—in that order of notification from them.

Akademibokhandeln’s book sale came in the form of a mailer, which makes me very happy. It was a joy to flip the pages of this 60-page colorful brochure.

When I saw this page that showcased Tove Jansson’s Noveller and Romaner, I was a little saddened. But, it’s OK. I had earlier bought them (and the other Tove books) at an almost-full retail price when I was researching Tove Jansson for my Swedish school work—a presentation. At first I had borrowed the books from the bibliotek (library) and soon after the completion of my assignment, I bought them for my personal library (including the out-of-print Boel Westin ones from an online used books seller Bokborsen.se) because Tove is worth it!

Check this out if you’re in Sweden! Bokrea 2023

I have already placed several orders and saved heaps of kronor. One of the books I did not hesitate to pre-order is Samlade sagor by Maria Nilsson Thore (see previous blog post here).

Yep! This is what I’ve been busy doing over the past one week: shopping for bargains in several online book sales.

I have also finished reading the novel A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini in Swedish, which is for my roman analys uppgift (novel analysis assignment) at school. The Swedish title is Tusen strålande solar. It was at the end that I wept. For Mariam. For Afghanistan.

I’m also in the midst of preparing the presentation material for the muntliga presentation, which I have booked a time with my teacher to present in the class on 20 February.

In the frenzy of all the reading (school and leisure), prep work (school), and day job, my presence here on the blog has been wanting, but I know that once all these settle down, especially with the school work, you will see me here more and more. “Friday read-alouds” will resume, book reviews will surface, samt (and) pictures and sketches will feature oftare här (more often here).
