Back to School! (SVA1)

In September, I applied to the Jönköpings kommun to start studying Swedish again. This is free of charge and takes place through a “Komvux” (short for kommunal vuxenutbildning, literally “municipal adult education”).

My application was accepted, and I started school on Monday, 23 October. I have selected to study “Flex,” which means distance learning, and I go to school only when I am required to complete assignments or sit for tests. More information here (in Swedish) about the study forms for those studying gymnasiekurser (high school courses) within adult education.

In the next six months (November 2023 to April 2024), I will try my best to complete Svenska som andraspråk (SVA) 1, 2, and 3. I’m now starting with SVA 1.

Here are some quick “Fun Facts” about my Swedish language journey— 1.5 years after moving to Sweden!

  • March 2023: Completed the basic “Swedish as a second language” course (in Swedish: grundläggande svenska som andraspråk / Sva grund).

  • April 2022: Completed SFI (Svenska för invandrare).

  • November 2021: Started my Swedish language journey by going to SFI (Svenska för invandrare).
