Paterson
Paterson was awesome. I just came home from The Arts House after watching this film. Everything about the movie is so good. The story is about a hardworking, low-key bus driver named Paterson who was born in Paterson and drives a bus in Paterson. The story starts with Monday and ends on the beginning of the next Monday showing the life of this very ordinary person, but he is special.
What I loved about Paterson:
Poetry (he loves writing poems and he's really good at it)
Books (he is a prolific reader and he loves William Carlos Williams)
Routine (he follows a set pattern in his daily life)
Love (he loves his wife, Laura, and many of his poems are about her. He also supports her creative interests and artsy side)
Beer (he goes to his local bar every night at the same time while walking Marvin the super cute bulldog)
From The New Yorker:
The hero of the new Jim Jarmusch film, “Paterson,” is named Paterson (Adam Driver). He lives in Paterson, New Jersey, with his wife, Laura (Golshifteh Farahani). Every day, Paterson wakes up early, has breakfast, leaves the house, and goes to work as a bus driver—piloting the No. 23, which says “paterson” on the front. He stops for lunch. At the end of the day, he comes home and eats dinner. Later, he takes his English bulldog for a walk, leaving it outside a bar while he goes in for a beer.
