This is a 100-word book review.
Skellig by David Almond is a story about friendship, love, and family. Ten-year-old Michael recounts discovering a mysterious creature living in the garage of the rundown property his family has just bought. The creature is in poor condition. Michael then meets his neighbour, Mina, an imaginative home-schooled girl who loves William Blake’s poetry and possesses a vast knowledge of birds. They become friends, and Michael shows Mina the stranger he had found—they wonder if it’s a human or a beast. They find out his name is Skellig, and together they nurse him back to health. Just who is this Skellig?
