Duck Couples
I live close to the lake. Two bodies of water, actually: the Huskvarna River (Huskvarnaån) and the Lake Vättern. Some evenings, when I stroll in the neighbourhood, I pass by this area (Huskvarnaån), where ducks are always swimming and resting. Now that it’s spring, I see duck couples everywhere. Here are three sets of duck… — read more

“A Bright Cold Day: The Wonder of George Orwell” by Nathan Waddell
I finished A Bright Cold Day: The Wonder of George Orwell by Nathan Waddell, and I can say this plainly: I have developed a healthy obsession with Orwell! I’ll nickname the book ABCD. It made me curious about the person as a whole. Rather than following a conventional biographical approach, Waddell frames Orwell as ‘a… — read more

“Ronja the Robber’s Daughter” by Astrid Lindgren
Ronja the Robber’s Daughter by Astrid Lindgren is my final book for 2025. It felt exactly right to close the last page of the last chapter on 31 December, which is all about thresholds, growing up, and refusing to accept the way things have always been.
