A Visit to My Sponsored Child in Myanmar

Earlier this month—in the first week of November—I went to the rural Pyapon in Myanmar to visit my sponsored child. The trip, organized by World Vision Malaysia, was one of the most amazing and fulfilling experiences of my life.

My boy, TZ, is such a dashing young man and also very intelligent. He told me he wants to be a teacher and headmaster when he grows up. He's also a very good storyteller. The interpreter was laughing so hard when she tried to translate his narration to English. I thought he must be telling me a funny story! The interpreter said TZ is telling me about “The Four Foolish Men.” I asked him if he’d read the story from a book but he said he created it on the spot for me. Wow.

I told TZ I would like to learn Burmese and will try to write to him in the language. The textbook, phrasebook and dictionary I ordered from BookDepository.com have all arrived!

Please visit World Vision Malaysia and consider sponsoring a child (or two).
