Back to School! (SVA2)

I applied to the Jönköpings kommun at the end of October (advanced planning!) to continue to study Swedish at level SVA2. This is free of charge and takes place through a “Komvux” (short for kommunal vuxenutbildning, literally “municipal adult education”).

I received a placement confirmation from the Kommun on 19 December and then a notification from the school to begin on Monday, 8 January 2024. Fantastic news! Like in the previous post, I have selected to study “Flex,” which means distance learning, and I go to school only when I am required to complete assignments or sit for tests. More information here (in Swedish) about the study forms for those studying gymnasiekurser (high school courses) within adult education.

With SVA1 now out of the way, in the next five months (January 2024 to May 2024), I aim to complete Svenska som andraspråk (SVA) 2 and 3.

Here are some quick “Fun Facts” about my Swedish language journey— nearly 2 years after moving to Sweden!

  • December 2023: Completed SVA1 (Svenska som andraspråk 1).

  • March 2023: Completed the basic “Swedish as a second language” course (in Swedish: grundläggande svenska som andraspråk / Sva grund).

  • April 2022: Completed SFI (Svenska för invandrare).

  • November 2021: Started my Swedish language journey by going to SFI (Svenska för invandrare).
