Spool nuts and more!

O32 (my Olivetti Lettera 32 typewriter) is missing a spool nut. Two weeks ago, I mentioned sourcing to replace spare parts. I found the spool nuts AND more from Amsterdam Typewriter in the Netherlands.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the beautiful packaging and thoughtfulness of the owner, Bilyana V., in communicating about the status of my order. I’m very happy with the purchase!

Nuts, mat and cover!

Replacement spool nuts for Olivetti

These spool nuts are needed to provide tension to hold down the ribbon spools so that the ribbon will rotate properly when typing.

While waiting for these nuts to arrive, I was toggling the one nut that’s intact between the two sides of the ribbon spools, depending on which direction I’m switching the ribbon to go as they rotate towards the end of the spool. That was my workaround. With the replacement spool nut installed, I no longer need to do this!

Handmade Transparent Typewriter Dust Cover

I’ve handwashed the cover and air-drying it at the moment. I’ll be updating this post with a picture of the beautiful cover soon!

The typewriter mat is beautiful!

I love the light grey color of the mat. It’s also thick at about 1 cm. It’s not exactly anti-slip so it can still slide on the table (but the typewriter stays stable on the mat), which is helt OK by me.

I’m eagerly anticipating the arrival of my one other purchase: two original Olivetti metal typewriter ribbon spools. Can’t wait!
