Idag är det tulpanens dag!

Today, Sweden celebrates Tulpanens dag (Tulip Day)! This year, Tulip Day turns 20 years old. So … here’s wishing everyone a very Happy Tulip Day!

Tulips are my favorite flowers. The mini gallery above of the pretty spring-blooming perennial herbaceous bulbiferous geophytes are some of the snapshots I took in Huskvarna (May 2019).

Why do we celebrate Tulpanens dag in the middle of a cold and dark January in Sweden? According to Blomster landet, the colorful and crispy tulips symbolize the return of light and that spring is approaching. Tulips are full of life and give us the energy we so need.
