“The Cozy Issue” That Got Away
Some things are replaceable. Some things are not. THE COZY ISSUE is one of those things that are not.
I didn’t know it then, but those magazines were more than just beautifully curated pages of cozy aesthetics. They were little time capsules, brimming with stories and moments that resonated deeply with a quieter, simpler part of me. They sat on my shelves in my little studio apartment in Singapore, their spines lined up like old friends, each offering a moment of calm and creativity whenever I needed it.
When it was time for me to leave Singapore and move to Sweden in August 2021, I decided to donate them. “I can always find them again if I want to,” I thought. But I was wrong. THE COZY ISSUE has since gone out of print, and a little memory slipped away.
Now, in Sweden, I long to flip through those pages again—not just for the content but for the comfort they brought me. Their absence feels heavier than I expected, like a reminder that some things can’t be replaced once they’re gone.
I have all the digital editions of BELLA GRACE and THE COZY ISSUE. Three years into living in Sweden, I attempted again to see if I could procure copies of those I donated, but they remain out of print on the publisher’s website, https://stampington.com/.
But maybe all is not lost. I’ll start scouring secondhand bookstores and online marketplaces, hoping that someone out there (rare beings who love such magazines) might be willing to part with their copies.
It feels like a treasure hunt, searching for something rare and meaningful. There’s a strange kind of joy in the pursuit, even if I don’t succeed right away. Who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll stumble across an entire stack at a flea market or in someone’s online collection, and it’ll feel like finding a lost piece of myself. Until then, the search itself has become a new layer of connection to the magazines I loved so much.
