Mockingjay
I loved EVERYTHING about this series, and particularly, MOCKINGJAY, the last book of the trilogy. Brilliant plot, lots of action, plenty of suspense. It’s such a page-turner. Terrible, brutal truths are revealed in this installment. It is shocking to learn of the things the Capitol did or will do to the victors of the Hunger Games where children fight to the death. It turns out that Katniss and Peeta are not the only ones plagued with problems. You will learn more as the story unfolds.
What will it take to break Katniss Everdeen?
Catching Fire
This is the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy and here it gets even more suspenseful. The Capitol is unhappy with District 12’s victory (something happened in the first book). The year of victory coincides with the Quarter Quell, “a glorified version of the games,” which happens on every twenty-fifth anniversary of the games. The Capitol jumps on the chance for revenge:
The Hunger Games
12 Districts, 12 boys, 12 girls: Each district is to provide 1 boy and 1 girl to be entered as tributes into the Hunger Games in the Capitol, Panem. Conducted annually to punish citizens for an earlier rebellion, it also serves as a reminder. District 12’s Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take over her younger sister’s place.
