My Haiku: Three Birds (I)
Three birds and a bench.
Two humans stroll by, lovers;
are they watching us?

I'm still reading STUFFOCATION by James Wallman (previous post here and here). Here’s the part that truly resonated with me at this juncture: Why the medium chill matters. What it’s saying is exactly what I was just saying to my family and friends very recently, and it's a principle I've been holding on firmly for years. I wasn't using the term 'medium chill' but the principle is the same.

Hello! I'm back with more thoughts from STUFFOCATION by James Wallman. I’ve now come to the part where the book talks about the five key questions to work out if minimalism is going to catch on. I will not repeat all the questions here. There are no issues with the first three, but it starts to falter at question 4 and according to the author, it falls flat at the last question: Compared to the way we live now, is minimalism better?

I'm currently reading STUFFOCATION by James Wallman, which I started about two hours ago. I've reached the part on how the throwaway culture was created and how we're being manipulated into behaving exactly the way they (the industrialists, the ad folks, etc.) want us to behave through the creation of desire.
Book Exchange Corners @ NLB
Every month or so, I donate a few books from my personal library here in Singapore to the National Library Board (NLB), specifically the Central Public Library located at Victoria Street. Over the last 2.5 years of staying in Singapore, I have managed to accumulate quite a collection in my condo. It's amazing how one book can so quickly multiply into hundreds.
Something New, Something Called Corrigo
Heraclitus is known for his doctrine of change being central to the universe, and that is certainly true in my universe. In my 40 years of life (41 soon), I have come to love change and embrace it—change is good. I am very happy in my work-life, so to stir things up a bit, I recently took on a new role within my company and with that role comes a very steep learning curve. I had to learn an entirely new tool called Corrigo to be deployed in a month’s time for the new client I'd be managing.
Kató Lomb
A few days ago, I received my order of Alex Rawlings' book, HOW TO SPEAK ANY LANGUAGE FLUENTLY. I'm now on page 84 and Kató Lomb was mentioned in the introduction, so I started to research more about her. She was a Hungarian interpreter, translator and one of the first simultaneous interpreters in the world. My research brought me to TESL-EJ website where I found three of Lomb’s books.
