Something new has happened in Duolingo and I love it!

Duo the very smart little green owl of Duolingo has recently introduced Legendary Level. Learners can now up their game and complete timed challenges. Once completed, the golden yellow bubble turns purple. I have turned many golden bubbles into purple ones. Below are some screenshots of the goodies:

This is really fun to do. The ‘competitiveness’ and feeling of achievement really make daily language learning much more interesting.

I use Duolingo in conjunction with my books and podcasts in the target languages. I mentioned before the app helps me with vocabulary drills and grammar patterns (no kidding, repetition rocks) so if you combine Duolingo and structured learning materials such as books and courses, you WILL make good progress. I also use it to conveniently compare three similar Scandinavian languages—Swedish, Norwegian and Danish—when I do my drills.
