Synopsis: Meet Ang Ku Kueh Girl and her friends Png Kueh Girl, Kueh Lapis Girl, Curry Puff Boy and Roti Prata Boy in this charming new series for early readers, inspired by some of Singapore’s most beloved foods. In The Magical Dragon Playground, Ang Ku Kueh Girl comes face to face with a terrifying monster, and makes a very special new friend, learning an important lesson in the process.

The Dragon Playground was Ang Ku Kueh Girl’s favourite place in her neighbourhood. It felt like her own private space because it was usually empty. She didn’t mind when her brother, Ang Ku Kueh Boy, and her friends joined her there.

But she was happiest when she had the playground to herself. It was almost as if the playground were calling out to her. Sometimes, she secretly thought there might be something magical about it.

The Magical Dragon Playground by Wang Shija is published by Epigram Books, and is Book 1 of the Ang Ku Kueh Girl & Friends series.

I stumbled upon this series by accident when I was browsing for new books to borrow on the National Library Board (NLB) website. The Blur Sotong is the first book I read although it’s the third book in the series. I then borrowed the other two books to follow Ang Ku Kueh Girl’s adventures. Borrow The Magical Dragon Playground from the NLB here. Begin your Ang Ku Kueh Girl & Friends journey here and discover how the magical dragon playground came to be.
