Disambiguate

I came across the word disambiguate while studying for the Coursera Technical Writing course. This topic piqued my interest and has become one of my passion (or curiosity) projects.

When course instructor Elena Bazanova mentioned “disambiguating” by “studying complicated things and then explaining them clearly,” that struck a chord with me. Aside from technical writing, I want to look at “disambiguating” in a different light, i.e., how I personally acquire knowledge and then make that knowledge relevant and crystal clear to me. And then, of course, apply that knowledge.

In the beginning, everything that I’m curious about is ambiguous and unclear to me. In this context, I’d like to deploy the definition “of doubtful or uncertain nature; difficult to comprehend, distinguish, or classify.” For example, strategic initiatives is still a fuzzy subject matter to me, even though I consider myself well-read on the topic. What I’d like to do is to disambiguate it to myself to the point of crystal-clear clarity.

There’s work to be done. I tell you!
